Process Control/Electrical Internship

Site Locations:

This opportunity exists at our Silver Bay, MNsite only.

Position Summary:

The Process Controls Engineering Intern will be responsible for supporting the site Instrumentation Maintenance or Engineering departments, completing several small Controls related projects and advancing the plants exposure to new IT/Handheld application technology

Sample Past Projects:

·Perform monthly computer backup.

·Field documentation verification.

·Assist with Allen-Bradley PLC programming, hardware installation and documentation to enhance our existing controls system functionality.

·Research and develop recommendations for Hand held application technology and industry best practices related to data acquisition.

·Assist with troubleshooting instrumentation issues as they arise.

·Work with Instrumentation Crews to accomplish projects and initiatives.

·Participate in regular site E&I Planning meetings and conference calls with site staff.

·Other duties as assigned by the E&I Maintenance Planning and Engineering staff.

·Past Project Example:

oWorking with Plant Technicians and the Process group to improve the accuracy and dependability of our existing instrumentation.

oWorking with Plant Electricians setting up the controls for the installation of new variable speed drives.

oWorking with Plant Process Control Engineers to add and configure I/O points for new control signals, including instrumentation selection, installation documentation preparation and commissioning.

Education Requirements: Candidate must be enrolled in an accredited school or university and currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, IT, or other related field.

Experience Requirements: No previous experience required, previous internship experience preferred.

AutoCAD or SolidWorks experience preferred. Previous internship experience preferred.

Competency Requirements:

·Ability to work in various environments – rain, heat, humidity, etc.

·Strong writing skills

·Strong interpersonal communication skills

·Well-developed, superb organizational skills

·Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

·Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook

·Able to multi-task and set proper priorities
