The Laboratory Technician Supervisoris responsible for overseeing and coordinating Laboratory Technicians who conduct testing procedures before, during, and after the manufacturing and production process to ensure the materials and products comply with quality and safety standards.

Specific Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Lead, promote, and adhere to all safety policies in order to ensure 100% safe operation in the laboratory
  • Maintain work schedules of the department
  • Ensure daily and weekly scheduled quality checks are executed
  • Perform physical analysis, which requires frequent lifting of up to 35 lbs.
  • Responsible for job preparation activities, including assignment of Lab Techs to jobs, reviewing scope of work, identifying and communicating changes to plan, verifying availability of materials and tools, and confirming scheduled quality department tasks
  • Establish high performance standards and set goals to attain them
  • Identify deviations from the Quality plan and assign tasks appropriately to correct or minimize impact
  • Provide leadership to team of direct reports, so that they are clear about their role, level of work, and task assignments
  • Maintain a clean and orderly laboratory area in order to adhere to high laboratory standards
  • Perform special analysis as outlined by the Quality Manager
  • Monitor product quality and assess customer complaints
  • Collect product samples for the laboratory, when directed
  • Evaluate / Audit products to verify compliance with quality standards
  • Conduct testing to ensure product fulfills or exceeds set quality standards

Education/Experience Requirements


  • Associates Degree in Chemistry preferred. May consider equivalent experience


  • 3-5 years quality experience
  • Experience with wet chemistry
  • Experience with sophisticated analysis equipment (XRD, O², C, S) preferred
  • Experience overseeing, leading, and coaching people
  • Computerized Quality Management System (QMS) experience; Ellipse preferred
  • Microsoft Office experience (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret shipping and receiving documents such as packing slips, POD’s, and BOL’s
  • Demonstrate a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and effectively manage multiple/changing priorities


  • Ability to execute physical and chemical testing, and write test results
  • Ability to interpret customer testing requirements and quality manuals
  • Effectively communicate both orally and through written text

Physical Demands:

  • Occasionally lifting up to 35lbs
  • Mobility required. Must be able to handle stairs and long periods of work on your feet
  • Routinely exposed to plant environment including testing chemicals, noise, dust, dirt and vibrations, extreme climate changes / changes in weather
