Basic Functions: Provides maintenance planning and analysis and generates maintenance work schedules based on priorities and available resources. Responsible for supervising a rotating shift and the unit’s employees in the safe and cost effective maintenance of the plant.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise and review work performed through use of Standard Work.
Ensures that all department work performed is done in a safe manner and that all work areas are maintained to meet or exceed all MSHA standards.
Promotes and encourages teamwork and high performance standards throughout the department.
Ensures that the daily and weekly maintenance plan is communicated and coordinated with all those affected.
Assists in the development of long-range maintenance management plans and budgets.
Develops short-range maintenance plans.
Ensures compliance and implementation of short and long-range maintenance management plans and budgets.
Orders all necessary parts and materials to complete the work plan.
Ensures that all necessary parts are pre-positioned and/or delivered to the job site prior to commencement of the job.
Generates a work plan.
Prepares forecasts for future maintenance activities on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
Generates a daily and weekly work schedule.
Participates in the preparation and administration of the maintenance budget; submit budget recommendations, monitors expenditures, prepare cost estimates, submit justifications for equipment.
Works with the shift supervisor to ensure that all work orders are closed when completed.
Updates equipment history and equipment component tracking.
Works with the planners, supervisors, crafts workers/technicians, and reliability engineer to ensure the equipment improvement activities are occurring.
Performs effective toolbox and safety meetings during scheduled shifts.
Responsible to meet shift maintenance goals.
Distribute job cards for every job, and get progress updates to the supervisor who relieves you. Close out completed work orders, with completion comments.
Provide coaching, leadership and direction for the department personnel.
Promote and encourage teamwork and high performance standards throughout the section and oversee the disciplinary action process when necessary.
Identify opportunities for improvement in the department.
Excellent data interpretation and analysis skills.
Mechanical or trade background in process environment.
Excellent problem solving skills.
