Business Support Manager/Financial Analyst

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Business Support Manager/Financial Analyst supports department managers by providing assistance with budgeting and forecasting, capital procurement, cost management, cost of quality, financial planning and organizational support.  Works in collaborative manner with existing financial accounting systems and personnel to ensure accurate and timely dissemination of critical cost information.

POSTION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates the development of budget data and prepares detail support for line items.

  • Develops and reviews preliminary/historical comparison reports, develops forecast models and maintains forecast data.

  • Reviews costs and spending throughout the month. Follows up on any significant issues arising out of the cost review process.

  • Prepares month-end analysis comparing actual statistical and cost performance to budget. Reviews significant variances from budget with Area and Section Managers.

  • Provides financial analysis support to departmental managers for identification of potential savings.

  • Coordinates development of the capital spending budget.Prepares capital project spending requests for approval.

  • Monitors and reviews capital spending, provides support to keep spending within project budgets and provides capital spend reporting.

  • Completes five-year forecast as well as five-year plan for capital spending, including reports showing variances to prior forecast.

  • Completes other ad hoc analysis and tasks as required.

  • Interacts with purchasing and financial departments to ensure compliance with all applicable agreements and/or financial control procedures.

  • Maintains adequate internal control procedures to ensure the integrity of department assets and ensures compliance with all policies and procedures related to the business function of the department.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Information Technology or a related business degree.

  • 3-5 years professional experience.Experience in an industrial, mining or manufacturing environment preferred but not necessary.

  • Have a thorough understanding of accounting principles and analytical skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office. Skills in Hyperion or Business Objects a plus.

  • Demonstrated enthusiasm, honesty, and ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Have strong interpersonal and communication skills with collaborative style of solving problems.

  • Willingness to grow personally and professionally.
