Purpose:Provide direct services to the Plant Operations department by gathering, summarizing and reporting data to enable decisions to be made in support of the execution of operating strategy and business plans.

  • Demonstrate safe work practices and lead work safely.

  • Work with the Environmental Team if new data or reporting is needed in identifying and mitigating environmental risks

  • Gather data, summarize and design reports to best identify trends for use in decision making by accountable managers and individuals.

  • Understand the elements of the Cliffs’ Natural Resources Maintenance Process/Operations Standards (MPS) and the General Repair Improvement Process (GRIP)

  • Assist managers through analysis and reporting of project team performance and help them to provide appropriate and timely feedback.

  • Provide analysis to support the AM, SMs, and other department staff in the embedding process at project completions
  • Participate in the Level 2 &3 meetings at the Plant. Assist the SM’s by using data to clearly demonstrate trends and gaps. Assist SM by retrieving and analyzing data from available databases. Transform data into graphical or descriptive statistics as requested by the SM.
  • Identify and communicate potential projects and improvement ideas to the SM and AM.

  • Provide ongoing support to SM and AM to provide data for the L2 and 3 review meetings including the preparation, repair, updating, or creation of graphs as necessary

​Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  1. A four year degree (technical preferred), or equivalent relevant work experience with the commitment to obtaining a degree.
  2. 3-5 years of related heavy industry experience.
  3. Experience/knowledge in mining and mine engineering processes and systems (department specific).
  4. Experience/knowledge in maintenance and reliabilityprocesses and systems (department specific).
  5. Experience/knowledge in plant and process engineering processes and systems (department specific).
  6. Knowledge of continuous improvement methods, including the Theory of Constraints.

Technical Skills:

  1. Demonstrated writing skills.
  2. Demonstrated data analysis skills utilizing analytical tools like Minitab, SPCExcel Business Objects, etc.
  3. Proficiency in computer skills in MS Office (MS Word, Excel, Project, Power Point).

Social Process Skills:

  1. Demonstrated ability to effectively influence people in levels below, peer, and above for effective short-term and long-term results.
  2. Professional language used appropriately on and off the job.
  3. Demonstrates and fosters the challenging of the status quo.
