Description


Purpose: Provide properly planned work in accordance with the Maintenance Process Standards (MPS) to enable the safe and efficient execution of scheduled work.

Tasks Related to this Role:

  • Understand the elements of the Cliffs’ Natural Resources Maintenance Process/Operations Standards (MPS) and the General Repair Improvement Process (GRIP); execute work in accordance with these standards and guidelines.
  • Identify Operations/Maintenance issues that may affect the department and either assign actions to correct these issues or elevate to SM.
  • As requested, maintain equipment hours and forecast of equipment outages to allow for planning and scheduling of work.
  • Plan maintenance work to identify scope, job instructions, parts and equipment.
  • Order and track delivery of major components with long lead times.
  • Work with SM Planning & Scheduling, SM Maintenance/Asset Management and Purchasing to perform bid package recommendations.
  • In consultation with Reliability Engineers and Maintenance Supervisors, assess and modify standard jobs, MST’s and APL’s.
  • Recommend changes to SM Planning and Scheduling as to changes to stock levels or parts addition/subtraction from stock.
  • Orders all necessary parts and materials to complete the work plan.
  • Communicates with materials and maintenance scheduler to get necessary parts pre-positioned and/or delivered to the job site prior to commencement of the job.
  • Works with maintenance supervisors to ensure that work orders are properly closed out, coded properly and updated with accurate labor hours, parts and procedures and that the equipment history is updated.

Educational Requirements: Bachelors degree in maintenance-related field, or equivalent work experience with the commitment to obtain a degree.

Skills & Experience:

  • 3-5 years of related maintenance experience
  • Experience/knowledge in maintenance and reliability processes and systems.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methods, including the Theory of Constraints.
  • Demonstrated writing skills.
  • Demonstrated professional presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (Work Order, Standard Jobs, APL’s, Equipment Register, and Scheduling modules).
  • Ability to demonstrate how a particular task is to be done and, if necessary, coach while it is being done.
  • Proven success in developing complex budgets
  • Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.
  • Proficiency in computer skills in MS Office (MS Word, Excel, Project, Power Point).
